COROT (Camille). Autograph letter signed to a young woman. "From the marshes of Presles", [probably June 1854]. One p. in-8, embossed letterhead with initials "C. G. ". "Mademoiselle, c'est mon petit ambassadeur, qui vous remet cette petit mot, qui vous annoncera mon arrivée exacte pour déjeuner 10 h. 1/4. I SHALL CONTINUE TO WORK ON MY STUDY. Receive, mademoiselle, my warmest regards..." In the heart of nature in the Oise valley, Presles was well known to Camille Corot, who spent four years there as a foster child, and returned several times, drawn by his childhood memories. He painted landscapes there in 1854, staying with his friend Guillaume. Provenance: stamped "YB".
