In-4, chocolate-brown morocco, front cover decorated with a bouquet of mosaic flowers in orange, blue, navy blue and green morocco with highlights of small gold balls of various sizes, two horizontal bands of mosaic brown morocco running across the smooth spine, gilt head, blue moiré reps lining and endpapers, cover and spine, half-maroquin slipcase and slipcase (François-Louis Schmied). Monod II, 8701 /// (3f.)-151-(3f.) 82 color wood-engraved illustrations by François-Louis Schmied, including cover, frontispiece, 6 full-page illustrations, 40 in the text and 34 ornaments and culs-de-lampe. Edition of 125 copies on Japon, this one printed for A. Bertaut (no. 65), with 5 signed original gouaches, including one full-page, 2 half-pages and 2 culs-de-lampe, all used in the illustrations. The copy also contains 5 trial proofs in black on various papers, a trial proof of the menu, 4 proofs of the same design, including 3 in color, and the final proof. A fine copy bound by Schmied, featuring the original gouache model of the binding.
