[GRASSET]. HISTOIRE DES QUATRE FILS AYMON, Très Nobles et tr - Lot 183
[GRASSET]. HISTOIRE DES QUATRE FILS AYMON, Très Nobles et très Vaillans Chevaliers. Paris, Launette, 1883. In-4, brown half-maroquin with corners, 5-ribbed spine, gilt head, cover and spine (period binding).
Vicaire, IV-142 /// (4f.)-224-(8f.)
Introduction and notes by Charles Marcilly and 246 original color compositions by Eugène Grasset, in or around the text, engraved and printed by the Charles Gillot process. The frontispiece, unpaginated, is actually part of the quires; handsome cover illustrated in color and gold.
A very important work in the history of publishing, as it was considered revolutionary for the new technique it employed, zinc engraving.
A fine copy, despite a bump to the upper corners.
