In-4, brown morocco, framed on the right by a red morocco listel and a gold listel intersecting at the corners, 2-nerved spine decorated with the same listels, inner framing in the same morocco with listels repeated, brown silk lining and endpapers, gilt head, cover and spine, slipcase (Gruel). Monod, II-6735 /// (4f.)-XIV-(1f.)-103-(3f.) Preface by Albert Thibaudet and illustrations by Jules Chadel, wood-engraved with the assistance of Germaine de Coster and printed according to Japanese methods by Yashijiro Urushibara. A total of 74 illustrations, including the frontispiece and title, and 72 in the text, including 4 full-page illustrations. The book also includes a 2-leaf facsimile. Limited edition of 121 copies on Japon, this one nominative printed for André Hachette (no. 49), here enriched with a large original wash. A fine copy bound by Gruel.
