(1f.)-179 / IV. (1f.)-203 (misquoted 103) Published in the same year as the original. Les Liaisons dangereuses was published in 1782 by Durand Neveu and was a runaway success. There were at least 16 editions in the same year, both legitimate and counterfeit. This copy belongs to the "H" edition according to Max Brun's classification. Handwritten bookplate of Madame des Mesnards. Corners rubbed. Hole in title pages of volumes I and III to conceal provenance. Leaves P3 and P4 of third volume bound between A3 and A4 of fourth volume. Tear at foot of one leaf and ink annotations on 2 leaves.
