SÈVRES - Lot 276

SÈVRES Part of a service comprising a covered Pestum teapot, a covered Pestum sugar pot and a Pestum milk jug with polychrome decoration on a brown background of birds on garlands of foliage and fruit, pecking at bunches of grapes held on garlands of foliage, the rims decorated in green and red with friezes of palmettes and foliage on a gold background. Marked: LL interlaced, fleur-de-lis, Sèvres. Painted by the painter Deutsch. Restoration period, 1817. The teapot and milk jug still bear the original Sèvres Manufacture price label with prices of 125 francs and 60 francs respectively. Height of teapot: 18.5 cm. Height of milk jug: 14 cm. Height of sugar pot: 13 cm. A drawing of this design by Deutsch is kept in the archives of the Sèvres factory. These pieces appear on the feuille d'appréciation n° 124 in April 1817 with the precision "fond brun &, décorée avec le dessin 1-1817 n° 2A" (brown background &, decorated with drawing 1-1817 n° 2A). They are also mentioned in the sales store entry register (Vv1 fol.98).
