Three porcelain plates with polychrome decoration in famille rose enamels of the English coat of arms of the MILLS of Harscomb (Gloucestershire) and Clapham (Surrey) in the center with a view of Fort Saint George and on the wing with views of Plymouth Sound and Whampoa in two reserves.
18th century, Qianlong period (1735-1796).

A plate from the same service is reproduced in Chinese Armorial Porcelain, D.S Howard, 1974, pp. 101 and 325. The Fort de Saint-Georges (also known as White Town) in Madras, India, now Chennai, in the state of Tamil Nadu, was the first to be built in India by the British East India Company in 1644. It was named after the patron saint of the British.
