CACHET in patinated silver 800 thousandths depicting Athena (?), the matrix in tinted lapis lazulI, virgin. Late 19th century. Signed FANNIERE Fres. Height : 10,7 cm Weight : 95 g (Damage to the matrix and traces of glue) A pair of silversmiths from the second half of the 19th century, Auguste Fannière (1818-1900) and Joseph Fannière (1820-1897) were the nephews and students of silversmith Jacques-Henri Fauconnier, former workshop manager at Odiot. On the death of their uncle in 1839, they set up a chasing workshop and worked together.
