LÉON JEAN-BAPTISTE ALEXANDRE BLANCHOT (1868-1947) 800-millil silver cachet featuring three leaning naiads holding hands separated by wide flowering stems and set in the center with cabochon garnet, the matrix blank. Signed on the base "L. BLANCHOT". Circa 1900. Height: 9.3 cm Gross weight : 100 g Léon Jean-Baptiste Alexandre Blanchot (known as Ivan Loewitz), (1868-1947) began his art studies in Bordeaux before moving to Paris, where he became a student at the Beaux-arts. His work as a sculptor, signed L. Blanchot, is marked by the spirit of Art Nouveau. He created the monument to the dead at the Faculty of Medicine in Paris. He ended his career as sculpture inspector at Sèvres from 1930 to 1947.
