Round MINIATURE on ivory (Elephantidae spp*), under glass, portrait of a young man in a black frock coat and white shirt, on a gray background, in a gilded metal frame with bélière, the glass background enclosing a lock of hair and bearing a handwritten label mentioning "Henri Charles de la Roche saint André". Henri-Charles de La Roche Saint-André (1765- 1836) was a French soldier and politician who joined the navy at the age of twelve and fought in the American War of Independence. He emigrated during the French Revolution. He was lieutenant to Vendean general Pierre Constant de Suzannet, commander-in-chief of the Catholic and royal army of Bas-Poitou and Pays de Retz. After the July Revolution of 1830, he resigned as a member of parliament and retired to his land at Chambrette. French school, 19th century Frame diameter: 6.8 cm (Accidents) *Ivory specimen of Elephantidae spp (I/A) pre-Convention, prior to July 1, 1947 and therefore compliant with EC Regulation 338/97 of 09/12/1996 art.2-Wmc, and prior to July 1, 1975 and therefore compliant with the French decrees of May 4, 2017 and January 2022. To leave the European Union, a CITES re-export permit is required.
