TWO PILLAR BOXES, one in blue lacquered metal decorated with gilded garlands of flowers, the lid adorned with a grisaille miniature and embroidery; the other in imitation tortoiseshell with brown lacquered decoration on a gold star background, the lid adorned with a painted angel and dove and a filigree altar.

The pill boxes appear to be made from parts and fragments of tinted horn of the domestic Bovidae (Bos taurus domesticus). This species is not subject to regulation under the Washington Convention, European Community Regulation 338/97 of 09/12/1996, or the French Environment Code.
The pill boxes also appear to be made from parts and fragments of the scales of Sea Turtle spp. of the Cheloniidae spp. family. These objects predate June 1, 1947, in view of their manufacture and age.
These specimens are listed in Appendix I of the Washington Convention, in Annex A of European Community Regulation 338/97 of 09/12/1996, and in the French Environment Code. If you wish to leave the EU, you will need a CITES re-export permit.
