ROME. - Italian manuscript. [1858 or shortly thereafter]. Ap - Lot 157
ROME. - Italian manuscript. [1858 or shortly thereafter]. Approximately 35 in-4 bound quires, with a few appendices. Composed of notes taken while reading the Roman periodical Diario di Roma, it compiles the events that marked the city of Rome from 1775 to 1858: life of the Curia, embassies, Italian aristocracy, curiosities such as balloon ascents or the arrest of Cagliostro... Among the accompanying papers, indications identify the author or scribe as a Jesuit who studied at the Collegio Romano in 1787, and whose sister married the defrocked Peruvian Jesuit Evaristo Albites in 1789, who had a successful career as a physician in Rome.
