COCTEAU (Jean). Set of 3 pieces. - Lot 124
COCTEAU (Jean). Set of 3 pieces. Autograph Apostille signed on a letter to him from writer and critic Gérard Bauër. 1956. The writer, a member of the Académie Goncourt, criticizes Cocteau for having associated the name of Colette with that of Charles Trenet in a speech. Cocteau explains: "I replied by quoting a sentence from one of COLETTE's letters: 'JE DONNERAIS TOUTE LA TETRALOGIE POUR UNE CHANSON DE TRENET'. Colette, queen of anti-intellectualism". - Corrected proof with autograph signed "bon à tirer". End of his article "Préface au passé", for the Revue de Paris in 1958. In his own hand, Cocteau has crossed out "de l'Académie française" under his name, and added, for the attention of the magazine's editor, Marcel Thiébaut, "Cher ami, publiez après avoir revu en détail. I'm unable to read... I can't see what I wanted to write...". This article would be included the following year in the collection Poésie critique (Paris, Gallimard). - Autograph letter signed to Armand Lanoux. August 1960. "I should finish a considerable plastic work at the theater of the Centre d'études du Cap-d'Ail...".
