One of the editions of this Latin translation by Pierre Nicole that appeared for the first time in the same year. Provenance: Pierre Rainssant (c. 1640-1689, handwritten bookplate on title), physician and scholar, protégé of the archbishop of Rheims (his native city), member of the Académie des Inscriptions and keeper of the King's Medals; the King's advisor Amé, in Rheims (handwritten bookplate on title); then the King's secretary and advisor S. Coquebert (handwritten bookplate on title). - PENSEES. Amsterdam: Abraham Wolfganck, following the copy printed in Paris, 1677. Small in-12, brown morocco, gilt edges (L. Bausel).
