LITERATURE. 16th century. Set of 3 volumes; sold as is. BOCCACE (Giovanni Boccacio, known as). Il Decamerone. Stampato in Venetia ad instantia di M. Giovanni Giolito, 1538. Colophon: stampato in Vinegia, per Bartholomeo Zanetti. In-4, black calf, boards adorned with a cold-stamped decoration with a central Occasion emblem (a woman with long hair in the wind and holding a sail), gilt title on first board; spine and corners rebound, owner's statement cold-stamped on first board, scratched (period binding). First edition with commentary by the humanist Antonio Brucioli. Rare Venice printing, illustrated with 2 woodcuts, including a portrait of Boccaccio on the title. - DU BELLAY (Joachim). Les OEuvres françoises. À Paris, de l'imprimerie de Federic Morel, 1574. Small in-8, ornate half-basane; spine rubbed, some spotting (first third of 19th century binding). Third collective edition, the second in continuous pagination, reprinting the text of the first published in 1568-1569. Provenance: Jean Geoffroy (handwritten bookplate on title, dated 1612), then Maison des Lazaristes de Tulle (handwritten bookplate on title). - PETRARQUE (Francesco Petrarca, known as). Il Petrarca. In Lione, per Giovanni di Tournes, 1547. Small in-16, modern parchment; stain and small loss to title. Complete works of Petrarch's poetic works, mainly including the Canzoniere and the Trionfi. Wood engravings in the text.
