In-folio, (8 of which the first 2 are blank)-151-(8 of which the last 3 are blank) pp. covers and spine preserved, bradel of ivory imitation vellum with painted decoration on boards, spine and back covers (F. L. Schmied). Volume housed in a cream morocco box lined with tobacco suede, in a lined slipcase (Loutrel). ORIGINAL EDITION ISSUED IN 125 NUMEROTES ON JAPAN, this one nominative for the secretary of the Société du livre contemporain. ONE OF 5 BOOKS PRINTED ENTIRELY ON THE F.-L. SCHMIED HAND PRESS. FIRST EDITION OF ILLUSTRATIONS BY F.-L. SCHMIED: 83 woodcuts in color, including a composition on the cover, 7 full-page woodcuts, 40 large figures in the text and 35 culs-de-lampe. A PRECIOUS COPY ENRICHED WITH 18 PIECES: - 10 COLOR TRIALS SIGNED BY F.-L. SCHMIED, printed on japon mince, mounted on strong paper sheets, for the woodcuts on pp. 12, 15, 29 (with a black line proof of the same woodcut on the same sheet), 49, 52, 61, 104 (2 trials), 124 and 134. Very beautiful, they offer a valuable insight into the artist's method, and some are masterpieces in their own right. - 2 copies of the menu illustrated by F.-L. Schmied for the dinner held on June 11, 1924 to mark the completion of the book Les Climats, one before the letter, the other with letter. The illustration shows a self-portrait of F.-L. Schmied in oriental costume, holding open the book Les Climats. - The agenda of the Le Livre contemporain society of June 11, 1924, concerning, among other things, the printing and follow-up of Les Climats. - 2 AUTOGRAPH LETTERS SIGNED BY F.-L. SCHMIED to sponsor. 1927. " ... I'm very busy at the moment with the completion of a book... And also the start of work on your sacred "Vies imaginaires". That's why I haven't done your binding yet, but rest assured, it's in my program..." Etc. - 3 letters from Henri Michel-Dansac (2 autographed, one signed) to the same bibliophile. April 1924. Concerning the printing of copies and sequels, and F.-L. Schmied's sending of the list of members for the registration of copies. A member of the Le Livre contemporain society, he supervised the production of this edition. SUPERB AND RARE PAINTED BINDING SIGNED BY F.-L. SCHMIED: on a speckled background with bands continuing on the boards and spine, a composition of a water jet between silhouettes of buildings stands out.
