Anti-English pamphlet: the author, a Boston merchant and husband of the daughter of one of Washington's aides-de-camp, was U.S. consul in Bordeaux from 1801 to 1816, and proved to be an admirer of Napoleon I. Here, he gives a history of Anglo-American relations from 1791 to the Anglo-American War of 1812, and offers a comparative study of the two nations.
