Silver-plated metal and mother-of-pearl theater or opera glasses, with polychrome enamel decoration of a gallant scene and a mythological scene. L. 11 cm, H. 7 cm Worn, missing A leather box is included. The inlays on this pair of theater binoculars appear to be made from parts and fragments of Mother-of-Pearl (Pinctada margaritifera). This species of mother-of-pearl is not subject to regulation under the Washington Convention, European Community Regulation 338/97 of 09/12/1996, or the French Environment Code.
