Gilded brass and mother-of-pearl theater JUMELLES. Signed "S. BLOCH Strasbourg Mulhouse". 19th century L. 9.5 cm; H. 5.5 cm (Some wear) Some of the inlays on this pair of theater binoculars appear to be made from parts and fragments of Green Turbo (Turbo marmoratus) and Pearl Oyster (Pinctada margaritifera) Nacres. These mother-of-pearl species are not subject to regulation under the Washington Convention, European Community Regulation 338/97 of 09/12/1996, or the French Environment Code.
