19th century - FORT DE GALLE, SRI LANKA Dutch display cabinet in lemon and ebony (satinwood and ebonywood), opening with two doors and two drawers in the waist. Damage, missing parts and restorations Provenance : Fort de Galle, Sri Lanka. The Fort has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1988. The fort flourished in the 16th century with the arrival of the Portuguese, then as a Dutch port in the 18th century, and later by the East India Company.
