FORT DE GALLE, SRI LANKA, 19th century Pair of colonial-style Dutch armchairs in teak. 89 x 5 x 50 cm Accents, missing parts, restorations, one chair with a hole in the cane. Provenance : Fort de Galle, Sri Lanka. This fort has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1988. The fort flourished in the 16th century with the arrival of the Portuguese, then as a Dutch port in the 18th century, and later by the East India Company.
