FORT DE GALLE, SRI LANKA, 19th century Small Dutch ebony table with glazed ceramic tile top. H. 77 cm, W. 55 cm Damage, missing parts, repairs Provenance : Galle Fort, Sri Lanka. This fort has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1988. The fort flourished in the 16th century with the arrival of the Portuguese, then as a Dutch port in the 18th century, and later by the East India Company.
