LES ISLETTES (Manufacture du Bois d'Épense) Earthenware dish with contoured and combed rim, polychrome decoration of a giraffe on a terrace framed by palm trees. The first giraffe to arrive in France, Zarafa was presented as a gift by Mehemet Ali to Charles X in 1827. First half of the 19th century, circa 1830. D. 28 cm Chips and edge restoration.
