Earthenware plate with contoured rim and polychrome patriotic decoration of a cat? its two front paws resting on a mound where an open cage stands, watching for a bird about to emerge. Another bird has landed on top of the cage.
The bird is released from its cage, as a symbol of freedom.
Late 18th century, revolutionary period.
