NEVERS - Lot 130
NEVERS Earthenware plate with contoured rim featuring a patriotic polychrome design of a fox, its two front paws resting on a mound where an open cage stands, watching for a bird about to emerge. On the cage is another bird and a ribbon knot inscribed "W la liberté". The W in Nevers stands for "Vive". The bird was released from its cage, as a symbol of freedom.
