NEVERS Rare round earthenware salad bowl with contoured rim decorated in polychrome with a scene from popular imagery depicting King Louis Philippe, caricatured, his head in the shape of a pear with two of his sons: the Duc de Chartres and the Comte de Paris, in a tree that a man is sawing down, and the inscription below 'aux voleurs, aux voleurs, aux voleurs' ('to thieves, to thieves, to thieves'). 19th century, circa 1840 D : 33 cm Cracks.
