NEVERS Earthenware patronymic plate with contoured rim inscribed: "thairaise martaint . François morisoux 1785", with polychrome decoration depicting the patron saint of the commissioners, Saint Teresa of Avilla, praying before an altar, and at her side Saint Francis of Assisi, wearing a gown and holding a cross. The wing is decorated with garlands of flowers. Late 18th century, circa 1785. D. 23 cm Chips and chips. The 1805 commission for two plates, a large salad bowl and a pitcher inscribed to "therese maurisautte" (see lot no. ...), from her maiden name "thairaise martaint", allows us to consider the plate as an engagement gift.
