STRICT TEMPLAR OBSERVANCE. - 2 volumes, comprising a set of 5 pieces, 2 manuscript and 3 printed. 1778-1779. The first 4 pieces are bound in an in-folio volume, red bradel boards, red edges (period binding), and the fifth piece is stapled in a blue cover.

Collection compiled by Jean de Turckheim (nos. 1 to 4) for the Templar prefecture of Strasbourg (part of the Templar Province of Burgundy), accompanied by a German translation of one of the pieces, prepared at the request of the chancellor of the Strasbourg prefecture, Frédéric-Rodolphe Saltzmann (no. 5).

Manuscript containing the preparatory proceedings and minutes of the 13 sessions of the Convent des Gaules in November and December 1778, presided over by Antoine-François Prost de Royer, Grand Prieur de France, assisted by Jean-Baptiste Willermoz, Chancelier d'Auvergne, and Jean de Turckheim l'aîné, Chancelier de Bourgogne, with nominal lists of those present. SIGNED BY JEAN DE TURKHEIM, under his name of Order "Frater Johannis a Flumine".

- 3. CODE GENERAL DES REGLEMENS DE L'ORDRE DES CHEVALIERS BIENFAISANS DE LA C[ITE] S[AINTE]. Adopted at the Convent National des Gaules held in November 465/1778. S.l.n.n., [1778]. Printed copy with AUTOGRAPHIC SENTENCE SIGNED BY JEAN DE TURCKHEIM as Chancellor of the Templar Province of Burgundy: "In usum Præfecturæ S[anctæ] C[ivitatis] per Alsatiam jussu M[agistri] Cap[ituli] Prov[inciæ] [quintæ] hanc copiam cod[icis] leg[um] C[ivitatis] S[anctæ] expedivit F. Johannes a Flumine Eq[ues] Cancellar [ii] Burgundiæ". Translation: "It is for the use of the Prefecture of the Holy City for Alsace, by order of the Master of the Chapter of the fifth province [Burgundy]". With wax seal under paper of the Province of Burgundy.

AUTOGRAPHIC MENTION SIGNED, IN FRENCH, BY FREDERIC-RODOLPHE SALTZMANN AS CHANCELLOR OF THE STRASBOURG SCOTTISH DIRECTORY: "La présente traduction du code a été collationnée sur l'original français, approuvée par le Directoire Écossais séant à Strasbourg & déposée aux Archives pour servir aux copies qui en seront données...".
