GRAND LODGE OF FRANCE. - STATUTES ET REGLEMENS... - Lot 66 - Pescheteau-Badin
GRAND LODGE OF FRANCE. S.l.n.n., 1771. Small in-8, red bradel boards (19th century binding). 55-(one blank) pp. faded spine, worn headpieces, rubbed edges and spines, large tear on last leaf, affecting inked stamp. Includes the statutes and regulations of the Grande Loge de France and those of the regular Lodges of France, adopted under the aegis of the General Substitute, the Duc de Montmorency-Luxembourg, after the death of the Grand Master, the Comte de Clermont, but before the official installation of the latter's successor, the Duc de Chartres. THEY LAID THE FOUNDATIONS FOR THE ORGANIZATION OF THE FUTURE GRAND ORIENT OF FRANCE, but while some articles continued practices already instituted, others were innovative and sometimes provoked dissension: notably on the question of the periodic election of officers, and the financial contribution requested from the Lodges. SIGNED BY TWO OFFICERS OF THE GRANDE LOGE DE FRANCE, Henri Duret, Garde des Sceaux, Timbre et Archives, and Pierre-Frédéric Martin, scrutateur, replacing the Secretary General; with inked seal and wax seal under paper of the Grande Loge de France on the last leaf.
