Large in-4, olive-green morocco, burgundy morocco right listel set with a double gilded fillet, 4-nerved spine decorated in the same way, Lavallière morocco lining, with green morocco right listel and gilded fillet framing, and large decoration covering the whole of the inside cover, composed of a repeating floral motif mosaicked in turquoise morocco, violet, blue, green, burgundy, with multiple gilded fillets symbolizing the stems, violet, blue, green, burgundy, with multiple gilded fillets symbolizing the stems, Lavallière reps endpapers, double endpapers, gilded edges on witnesses, cover, half-maroquin folder with covers, case (Marius Michel). Monod, I-4980 /// (3f.)-VI-(1f.)-256. Translation by André Pératé. Color woodcut illustrations by Maurice Denis by Jacques, Marcel, Camille and Georges beltrand, including one hors-texte, 71 in the text, numerous ornaments (bandeaux, lettrines, cul-de-lampe and vignettes) and text framing on every page. Edition of 120 copies on Hollande (no. 5), this one with a fine original watercolor illustration of Saint Francis of Assisi and monks tending a wounded man. A superb copy in a lined and mosaic binding by Marius Michel.
