MEISSEN Porcelain figure of the series of the Cries of Paris representing a man playing fife and drum man playing the fife and the drum, his vest with polychrome decoration of flowers of the Indies, the drum with pink bottom. Model of Johann Joachim Kaendler. The porcelain of the XVIIIth century, around 1745-1750, the decoration possibly partially from the 19th century. H. 18.5 cm. Chips and cracks. The source of this figure is an engraving by the Comte de Caylus entitled Le Provençal, after a drawing by Edmé Bouchardon, from the series Etudes Prises dans le Bas Peuples in the Bas Peuples or the Cries of Paris, published in 1737
