Louis-Charles DESNOS. ALMANACH DES ENVIRONS DE PARIS, contenant la Topographie de l'Archevêché et des différens endroits du diocèse Paris, Desnos, 1779. In-12, burgundy morocco, stippled on the boards, spine with 4 nerves decorated, gilt edges (Modern binding). This work has been republished many times as it is necessary for all persons employed at the Receipt of the Royal Deniers and for the inhabitants of the surroundings of the Capital. An engraved title and 16 double-page maps, one of which is a general map serving as an intelligence to the 15 sheets of the Archdiocese of Paris. The 16 maps are framed with a toise and delicately colored at the time. They represent the surroundings of Paris from the south of the Bishopric of Beauvais to Étampes and from Neauphle Le Château to Dampmartin. One finds there the Roads, the Woods, the Mountains, the villages and the hamlets, the Castles, the Houses of Pleasure and particular Copy in an elegant modern binding in burgundy morocco. The title specifying that the work contains leaves on which the owner can note his observations, the binder has placed blank leaves in fine and, along the gutter, a place for a pencil. A perfect copy with the exception of a small dark stain on the bottom of the first cover and two ink stains on the verso of two maps.
