SÈVRES - Lot 242
SÈVRES Oval covered soft-paste porcelain tureen with polychrome decoration of groups of flowers and fruits in reserves surrounded by foliage scrolls and garlands of foliage in gold on a celestial blue background, the lid in the shape of artichokes. Marked : LL interlaced, no letter-date, mark of the painter La Roche and mark of the gilder Henri Prevost. 18th century. L. 32 cm. The body restored. Provenance: Christian Béalu. This terrine comes from the service delivered to the merchants Empaytaz and Company between the 19 vendémiaire and the 15 frimaire year III (October 10 to December 5, 1792). This service included two terrines and their tray at 720 pounds each. See David Peters, Sèvres plates and services of the 18th century, 2005, vol. V, n° 94-4, pp. 1049-1053. A large part of the service is preserved in the Niarchos collection.
