Order of the Legion of Honour, II Republic, enamelled gold commander's jewel, the crown of foliage entirely visible between the points of the star (chips), the centres in two parts, the obverse with the profile of Bonaparte on the right on a background amati girded with the legend "BONAPARTE PREMIER CONSUL 19 MAI 1802", on the reverse, the flags surmounting the motto of the order, sun-shaped clasp, double ring, eagle head hallmark, period tie folded and partially discolored. 65 x 59 mm, gross weight : 38,85 g France, circa 1849. Jean-Baptiste Biot was appointed knight of the Legion of Honor on August 30, 1814, officer on August 11, 1823 and finally commander on May 3, 1849. Cf.
